Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Chill-Ax

Delicious homemade hot chocolate with a refreshing hint of Chill-Ax peppermint

Our Rongovis Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Chill-Ax will be your go-to treat in a mug! It’s a rich and chocolatey (and optionally boozy) delight with the added benefits and peppermint flavor of Chill-Ax CBD tincture.

Ingredients

  • 2 droppers Chill-Ax tincture
  • 2 cups milk (we suggest using 2% but any milk will do the trick – even plant based!)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips, or chopped chocolate bar (you set the sweetness level)
  • 1-2 ounces Irish cream liqueur – more or less to taste (optional)
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract

Makes 2 servings

Instructions

Place milk, cocoa powder and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium/medium-low heat, whisking frequently, until warm (but not boiling) and sugar is dissolved. Add chocolate chips and whisk constantly until the chocolate chips melt and distribute evenly into the milk. Whisk in Chill-Ax tincture, Irish cream liqueur, and vanilla extract.

Serve immediately, topped with your favorite garnishes: marshmallows, whipped cream, chopped or grated chocolate, crushed candy canes and more!
Since you are making this peppermint hot chocolate from scratch you can make it exactly the way you want it!

Want it extra rich? Use half and half instead of milk.
Want it less sweet? Use bittersweet/dark chocolate chips and/or reduce the sugar a touch.

What’s the difference between Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD?

What’s the difference between Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD?

Hey, guess what? Not all CBD oils are created equal. Nope. But all of them can give you the benefits of CBD albeit at slightly different levels depending on which you use. But we’ll get into that later.

Really understanding the difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum is as easy as T-H-C. CBD is one of many compounds in the cannabis plant. Other than tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is the plant’s most abundant compound. The main difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD is the compounds they contain.

Full-spectrum contains 0.3% THC while broad-spectrum contains non-detectable levels of THC also known as “THC Free” CBD oil. But the miniscule amount of THC isn’t the only element that contributes to “the spectrum”. Both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum contain minor cannabinoids. We’ll talk about those in just a minute.

So, how do you make full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD? Simply put, it has to do with the way the CBD is extracted and formulated. Full-spectrum CBD contains everything from the source plant, where broad-spectrum CBD is processed to remove any trace of THC. Because of this difference, full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD interact in slightly different ways with your endocannabinoid system. Yes, you have an endocannabinoid system.

OK, back to “the spectrum” thingy. CBD oils aren’t just CBD and oil. Over 100 phytocannabinoids are extracted from the plant! That’s pretty cool.

Full vs Broad Spectrum CBD

What Is Full-Spectrum CBD?

Full-spectrum CBD uses all of the phytochemicals found in the source plant; this includes CBD along with essential oils, and other cannabinoids including THC. By law, the THC content included should be under 0.3 percent. Because the THC content in full-spectrum CBD oil is negligible, you shouldn’t experience any psychoactive effects from the trace amounts of THC.

Full-spectrum CBD typically triggers the “entourage effect.” This effect requires the combination of whole-plant cannabinoids and additional terpenes.

So, what exactly is the “entourage effect”? The entourage effect refers to cannabis components working together to boost or intensify their benefits. Full-spectrum CBD can affect cannabinoid receptors in your endocannabinoid system – either blocking or allowing other cannabinoid molecules to bind or communicate with the connectors. Because of this, it is thought that full spectrum CBD provides a better response at higher amounts because it uses compounds from the entire hemp plant rather than CBD isolates alone.

What Is Broad-Spectrum CBD?

Like full-spectrum, CBD oil labeled broad-spectrum also uses CBD with all the other compounds found in the source plant except for THC. Broad-spectrum CBD retains several of the different cannabinoids, such as CBN and CBG.

Without THC content, broad-spectrum CBD is useful for people who want the similar benefits of full-spectrum CBD but with fewer worries about THC.

Let’s wrap this up!

The main difference between the two is the THC content: full-spectrum CBD oil contains THC and broad- spectrum CBD doesn’t.

So which spectrum should you choose? That’s entirely up to you. Our bodies process CBD differently
based on a variety of factors – size and body weight, severity of condition, and sensitivity to THC. Pick whichever one will better suit your needs. Your physiology, lifestyle, and even health history can influence how your body reacts to cannabinoids.

At Rongoavis we are partial to full-spectrum CBD because we want you to experience the benefits of CBD as quickly as possible. We feel with full-spectrum you’re getting more bang for your buck. Customers have expressed amazement at how quickly our full-spectrum formulas work – they really notice a difference. We offer our full-spectrum tinctures at varying concentrations of CBD letting you find the perfect fit for you on your CBD journey.

Can CBD get me high like THC?

Can CBD get me high like THC?

You’ve done your research, you’re reading almost every day about the health benefits of CBD, and now you’re ready to start your CBD journey. You know people from all walks of life are using CBD (cannabidiol) for several different ailments from anxiety to depression, stress, pain, inflammation, insomnia, and skin conditions. You’ve read that more and more studies reveal CBD as a safe big pharma alternative to deal with these health issues so why not give it a try? Because you have one more question…

Will CBD make me high?

Short answer: No.

But we know why you asked. Really, it’s a good question. You know CBD occurs naturally in cannabis plants just like THC, but here’s the difference: CBD does not have intoxicating properties.

Well, why not? Because CBD and THC interact differently with our bodies.

Both CBD and THC interact with CB1 receptors throughout our body’s endocannabinoid system, but they seem to have the opposite effect. Where THC binds and activates these receptors, causing the “marijuana high”, CBD acts as a modulator of the endocannabinoid system and blocks any intoxicating effects.

OK, makes sense, but what about full-spectrum CBD?

Another good question! (Dang you’re smart!) Full-spectrum CBD can contain up to 0.3% THC, so with the THC in there will that get you high? No, it shouldn’t but it will make CBD work better. What’s known as “the entourage effect”, a synergy between cannabinoids and terpenes, this small amount of THC in full-spectrum CBD products acts as a catalyst and helps CBD reach its full potential.

Great! But if CBD won’t make me feel high, how will it make me feel?

Short answer: Relaxed and calm.

CBD works by telling your endocannabinoid system to release more of those endocannabinoid goodies and slows down their breakdown in your body. With more cannabinoids circulating in your body, you feel more relaxed and calmer both physically and mentally. With this increase in cannabinoids levels many people report feeling less stress and a boost in mental clarity and focus.

As you start your CBD journey, please keep in mind that CBD affects everyone a little differently. CBD dosage depends on several factors: size and body weight, severity of condition, and tolerance to CBD. So, take it slow and work your way up until you find your proper daily dosage and adjust as necessary. This process can take anywhere from 5-15 days. Then, with your dosage dialed in you can begin to feel your very best – everyone deserves that!
